A Visionary in Youth Development and Inclusivity
From the Army boxing ring to youth ministry, Jody McPhearson has traveled a path marked by diverse experiences and profound transformations. Born in Chicago and a third-generation U.S. Army War Veteran, Jody's service during Desert Storm was not just about discipline and physical strength but about discovering the power of unity and belonging. This realization in the Army laid the foundation for the first pillar of his groundbreaking framework: Belong.
Transitioning from military service, Jody's passion for nurturing young minds flourished in his role as a Youth Pastor. It was here that Jody cultivated the second pillar, Believe, instilling in young individuals the power of faith—not only in a higher power but also in themselves and in the strength of a unified community. This role allowed him to witness firsthand the transformative power of belief and confidence in youth, shaping his approach to youth development.
With a robust foundation in belonging and belief, Jody embarked on the third pillar: Begin. Drawing on over three decades dedicated to youth development, he founded Inclusive Spaces—a beacon for schools, organizations, and businesses aiming to bridge the gap from classrooms to boardrooms. His mission has been clear: ensure that young individuals are not only given a seat at the table but also a voice that is heard and valued. The essence of his philosophy, "Co-creating a future with, not for young people," is the bedrock upon which Inclusive Spaces was built. This principle drives every initiative, ensuring that young people are active participants in shaping the programs and spaces that affect their lives.
Jody’s initiatives, such as the BEE Brave™ Initiative, the Three C's Leadership Academy, and notably, the Love Within® initiative, have transformed educational and organizational cultures and elevated the discourse on youth empowerment. The Love Within® is particularly close to Jody’s heart, born out of personal and family experiences with depression and identity struggles. This initiative aims to foster a community of support and self-love, helping individuals navigate their personal challenges with strength and solidarity.
As a TEDx Speaker, Jody champions the principle that "We must stop building youth programs without youth in the building." His compelling narrative resonates with a diverse audience, echoing his core philosophy: every young individual deserves a space to belong, believe, and begin their unique journey.
Through collaborations with institutions like Arizona State University, The Legacy Initiative, Xcel Energy and Minnesota State, Jody has demonstrated his expertise and the tangible impact of his initiatives. His innovative approach has revolutionized environments from classrooms to corporate boardrooms, substantiating his belief in the boundless potential of the youth. His leadership has propelled Inclusive Spaces beyond a consultancy, evolving into a movement that champions the voices of the youth.
Jody McPhearson is not just shaping futures; he is crafting a legacy of hope and leadership, ensuring that every young voice is heard and valued. Join him as he continues to create spaces where everyone can thrive together.
